Delivering metropolitan Sydney’s first modular crisis accommodation.
Funded by the NSW Government’s $2.4 million Core and Cluster Program, this collaborative project brought together SHAPE, Women’s Community Shelters and community and project partners to deliver a high quality, scalable solution to the growing demand for crisis accommodation across New South Wales.
Designed, manufactured, and installed in just 26 weeks, the modular expansion doubled Biyani House’s capacity for women and children escaping domestic and family violence. Eight double storey modules were manufactured at SHAPE’s Victorian facility in 10 weeks, ensuring consistent quality in a controlled environment.
Once the modules were in place onsite works took 16 weeks to complete, with the finished project featuring four self contained one bedroom homes, increasing capacity from two families to six.
